Cherie Blair, wife of former British PM, Tony Blair, besides being an accomplished lawyer herself, has been working on a number of international charities. This one from India is particularly striking – it is a mobile app developed by her Foundation with Vodafone India Foundation for inventory and customer account management for the Rudibens of Gujarat.
“I am truly impressed with these women as to how they are using this application to change their lives. I heard a widow say she is able to afford two meals a day now instead of one earlier because her profits have doubled and time reduced. Rudibens use the extra money to educate their sons through college and give back to community. These are incredible stories,” she said. Instead of travelling to and fro, the women now only have to spend one rupee for an SMS to update their data on the network.”
