A battery sent me an email it was running out of juice.
Seriously.
Actually the email came from Verizon:"Our network has detected that the battery inside your FiOS® ONT Backup Battery Unit (BBU) needs to be replaced". It pointed me to a link which provides elaborate details on the 12-Volt 7.2Ah SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) battery.
That led me to one of the 550+ franchise stores of Batteries Plus. Stores filled with batteries of every stripe.
My wife tells me the standard AA batteries don't fit her garden solar panels. It took me to many aisles of batteries at Home Depot before I found the 400 mAh Lithium Phospate solar recahrgable batteries for her.
I got myself a Jackery Mini from Amazon to help recharge my iPhone and my Zoom digital recorder on the road and was impressed at how many other choices it offered me for similar products from Anker, Photive and countless others.
As I handed my son the Spot GPS tracking device for his upcoming trip, I asked him to take plenty of spare AAA lithium batteries. No Alkaline ones for the device, I repeated. Not sure it sunk in, but then as you read about the 787s issues with its lithium ion batteries, it sure seems like we have all entered a whole new world of packaged energy.
