Patently Apple describes (and has a pictorial below) an Apple “stored wind energy” patent which relates to “storing rotational energy from a wind turbine as heat and using the stored heat to subsequently generate electricity on demand”
In the meantime Google has made an equity investment of $200 million in a 161-megawatt Texas wind farm that will produce enough electricity to power approximately 60,000 homes.
