Several of the victims of the horrendous shooting in Aurora, CO were taken to the Swedish Medical Center, and I was pleased to hear all of them will survive. Swedish has a Level 1 trauma center and it is something I should have blogged about much earlier.
You see I spent a few days there in October 2010. I was helicoptered there when I had my health hiccup while presenting in Vail, CO. I absolutely wanted to blog about the AirLife helicopter. I remember telling the nurse the Hospira infusion pump in my room looked very different from the model I had written about in The New Polymath and I wanted its specs. I wanted to get details of whatever the heck was “PET Myocardial Perfusion Imaging”
The honest truth is I was an impatient patient. It was the first time I had ever been admitted into a hospital. I was sedated most of the time, and wanted to be home when I was awake. Looking at my notes from the stay I see comments like “PT (patient) was working on his laptop and very focused on his task. Could not be convinced to get OOB (out of bed) for walking/balance activities. Will continue to follow”
Yes, I did not want to be there :)
Swedish, thanks for what you did for me. And even more for the Aurora effort.
