Nothing against Marissa Mayer, but I am surprised how much attention she has been getting, and not just in the last week or so. To me, a far more poignant lady technology role model for the last three decades has been Sally Ride, who passed away today.
I had a mention of her in a section on lady pioneers in science in The New Polymath but President Obama pays a better tribute "As the first American woman to travel into space, Sally was a national hero and a powerful role model..She inspired generations of young girls to reach for the stars and later fought tirelessly to help them get there by advocating for a greater focus on science and math in our schools.”
