My son recently shattered his rear window on a fishing trip (don’t ask). It was a write-off which the dealer had to replace and re-tint, but I considered calling Safelite, which makes repairing windshield chips a breeze.
Once a mobile repair appointment is confirmed, the company sends the customer an email containing the name, picture and background information of the technician who will be sent to complete the work on their vehicle via email. The email also contains other pertinent information such as appointment time, claim number, vehicle information and insurance claim data.
The tech injects liquid resin into the damaged area using Glass Medic technology, seals it with Mylar and hardens the resin with ultra-violet rays.
Here’s even better news. Many insurance companies cover the claim in full – even waive the deductible for glass repair since it is much cheaper than replacement.
I had the windshield on my Toyota Tundra replaced today by Acumen. Seth called to confirm the appointment, showed up 10 minutes early and then explained how long the job would take. I watched him do the job and was amazed at the attention to detail, removing all the old weather stripping and glue, carefully putting the new glue in place and then cleaning my new windshield inside and out.

It is best to make sure that our windshield is on the highest level in terms of safeguarding us while we are driving with our family. The safelite are more useful to us because it can fix the damaged portion of our windshield.

Luckily, catching this damage early on will result in the driver saving both time and money by skipping the replacement.

I've heard that Glassmedic is quite a common practice now with the top professional auto glass repair companies as it binds the glass molecules together making extremely strong - almost as much as without any chips/cracks to begin with. And yes, chip repair is much cheaper and effective provided that the obstruction isn't in the driver's direct line of site as that can be distracting.
