I must admit I have not spent much time in Denver in a while (other than my hospital stay 18 months ago) and my image of the city was always about the stunning views of the Rockies and the plains for miles, stores with Western art and restaurants with game trophies.
I spent a little time in the city this week and discovered it is a non-stop museum. The main Inforum event was at the Convention Center, which has everyone including a giant bear look inside with curiosity.
I stayed at the Hyatt next to the center, and that has almost 4,000 pieces of art, most in the rooms and suites, but 150 in public areas including the Climbers structure by Bill Starke.
The Inforum Executive Track where I was part of a panel discussion was held a few blocks away at the Denver Art Museum. The meals and the presentations were held in different buildings at the museum allowing you to pass by galleries and gift shops.
The evening’s band concert (Train) was in the Wells Fargo theatre, which hosted the Democratic Presidential convention in 2008. That’s quite a piece of art in its own right.
To go along with all that is the gorgeous Coors baseball Field.
And then there is the striking and gigantic airport.
Yves Saint Laurent was visting the Musuem this week. King Tut arrives soon. Denver deserves the attention.
