I've recently been talking with some folks about the current focus on having a single mobile device. Don't we really want to enable a more location aware perspective, where we can maximize the use of the environment capabilities around us? Shouldn't a real mobile 2.0 encorporate those capabilities as well? Just an thought...

Charlie, city of Cambridge has a wireless sensor network which will monitor things like pollution and weather...see below

but sensors do not worry about privacy issues. I think many folks are skittish about sharing their locations and would hesitate to be collection agents for environmental data

I tend to agree that "many folks are skittish about sharing their locations" and yet it happens all the time on various Web 2.0 tools!?!?!?

selective vanity ...ok to put stuff on Facebook but not share with employer -)
