Herman's Hermits were on this morning as I prepared to leave for Europe, via New York JFK.
But I was a little wary. Tropical Storm Barry visited us first day of hurricane season. Definite flight delays I thought as I looked at its path up Northeast, courtesy of the National Hurricane Center (click on all graphs below to expand view)
The local Doppler, courtesy of weather.com, looked ugly
So I checked the Delta flight status page. Thoughfully they showed the inbound flight.
They also show an interactivemap. But FlightAware has much better resolution and weather mapped in to track the in-bound
In-bound flight looked good. I headed to airport. Delta boarded prompty. The monitor below shows zones 1-4 had already boarded 20 minutes before scheduled departure
An hour later we were approaching North Carolina and blue skies as my Pharos GPS shows on Microsoft Streets. Look at all the open apps. Yes, I was listening to music and playing with Maps but also working on the flight -)
We landed 20 minutes early and as I checked on my Cingular 8125 as the plane taxied to our gate, my connection to Europe was also on time
Something tell's me I am in to something good....
actually all of us are ...all this technology available to the average traveler - more so than to even the airline employee
