My hometown, Tampa, is well used to hosting high profile events - Super Bowl every few years, the 2012 Republican Convention, annual Gasparilla parade. Still it is impressive that the International Indian Film Academy picked Tampa for its first awards ceremony in the US (it has held its previous “Oscars” around the world). Several other metro areas – New York/NJ, Chicago, Bay Area – have larger Indian immigrant populations than does Tampa, and probably had a better shot at playing host.
And Tampa is laying down a “green carpet” to welcome the group - real life and digital.
