My wife's car got rear -ended and pushed into a truck ahead at a light this evening. Everyone's ok - my wife will get checked out for some whiplash. I ran over while she waited for the cops to make sure she was ok and took pictures with the iPhone of the cars, insurance cards etc.
I was comparing to an accident I had 8-9 years ago and now it seems so much more streamlined.
- The police report was automated and copies printed for all parties on the spot.
- Our GEICO claim is already online and I uploaded some of the photos.
Of course, with mutiple insuarance companies, who knows how long the claims process will actually take. Also, the person in the truck did not have a mobile phone or did not want to use his. We loaned him my wife's to use so his claim likely will not have any digital photos:) To him, the process probably looks the same as it did a decade ago.
