In time for the holidays a few things to cheer:
Google Maps is now available for the iPhone 5. Walt Mossberg of the WSJ says it is better than Google Maps on Android. And of course, much better than Apple's own much maligned Maps.
Twitter now allows you to download all your tweets (the archive is a rolling release so some users will not see it for a few weeks). Go to town with your archive of 140 character pearls of wisdom.
Facebook goes retro and reinvents the Poke. The app allows you to send fleeting messages, pokes, photos and 10-second videos to Facebook friends. The messages expire after a set period of time, from 1 to 10 seconds, and cannot be retrieved by either party again.
I may use Poke tonight to send some naughty Santa jokes so folks in their eggnog stupor can enjoy them, but not hold me accountable when they are sober in the morning. Or I may send some my version of a lump of coal - an archive of all my Tweets :)
