Veterans increasingly bring technology, logistics and other skills that most industries can utilize. Nice study on the opportunities and challenges of hiring them.
"Hiring veterans is good business, according to detailed and lengthy interviews with 87 individuals
representing 69 companies. The companies reported 11 reasons they hire veterans, with an
emphasis on veterans’ leadership and teamwork skills, character and discipline. Companies also
reported challenges associated with hiring veterans, particularly regarding veterans’ difficulty in
translating their military experience to the civilian workplace and concerns about future deployments
by National Guard members and reservists. Changes to government policy could alleviate some of these challenges. The deployment concerns warrant a change in law, while others require the participation of companies, nonprofit organizations or veterans themselves."
