Music has been on my mind a lot lately. Specifically, the intertwining of music and technology.
Thanks to Tom Wailgum, I see Ben Worthen’s article in the WSJ about rock stars at industry events. Surprisingly he did not mention Salesforce.com which has profiled different genres - Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, will.i.am – at its events.
I speak to Krishnan Chatterjee, who heads marketing for HCL and he tells me about the band he is part of in Delhi, India. Jeff Bartman gives me something for my next visit to Bay Area “The Fox Theatre in Redwood City for the weekly 7pm blues jam. Admission free. The place is packed, the music is amazing & half the players are tech execs. Fun night.” I am reminded of a previous post where Richard Hunter of Gartner talked about a piece Esther Dyson wrote about musicians in tech world.
I see Madonna is the half time entertainment at the upcoming SuperBowl. And see GoDaddy will have a commercial with version 2.0 of the Pussycat Dolls. As with last year, I expect many more technology vendors to have Bowl commercials and rock stars in them.
I review an edit of my next book and see several pages on technology and music and how Apple, Amazon and Google have influenced it in recent years.
Probably the most frequent reminder are the chimes outside our house. A new neighbor stopped by and gifted them a week ago. Made by the supposedly "”low-tech” Amish, on breezy days there is no sweeter sound!
