Technology Innovation and 1984

Orwellian use of technology:

A proposal to implant RFID chips in immigrants and guest workers
Justice Department wants sites to keep detailed records of web-surfing activities of their customers
Texas Governor unveils plans to install video cameras along the border and let everyone monitor border crossings on the web 

Pretty soon half of the US will be in monitoring mode, and the other half in SOX compliance mode.

But wait - this does not yield competitive advantage to the Chinese. Their mobs are busy unearthing IP addresses and "outing" bad behavior.
